About The 60GoingOn30 Philosophy

Holistic Personal Training and Mind-Body Coaching are services in which a trained professional teaches a client about how the mind and body operate synergistically to create optimal health. Deana Sacks’s unique services are similar to life coaching, enhanced by research and certifications concerning human cognition, nutrition, exercise, and metabolism. All of the client’s habits and goals should be considered, including DNA-based testing if desired, to determine the client’s genetic propensity to eliminate fat and gain muscle - the most common client goal. The extended consultation is a holistic review of the client’s overall satisfaction with life, career, and personal relationships as well as health and fitness goals. Sacks then provides the client with recommendations for reaching the client’s goals in the easiest and most sustainable manner.

All aspects of our lives are interrelated and all must be addressed collectively to achieve optimal health and happiness. Our minds and bodies are miraculous creations that work together to manifest our life experiences. Accordingly, both cognitive processing and physical health should be considered for optimal results. We can transform our minds, bodies, and lives through proactive, intentional, and high-conscious thoughts in conjunction with conscious physical actions and nutritional choices. The skills to create harmony between the mind and body can be taught. Ideal health, weight, and overall happiness are within each person’s control and are each person’s birthright. Sacks was a law professor 2000-2020 and now teaches clients the skills to attain ideal health and satisfaction with life.

When people understand the science concerning how the mind operates (cognitive processing, implicit associations, expectations, self-concept, affirmations, and manifestations) and how the body operates (food intake choices, circadian rhythm, metabolic function, detoxification, and strengthening the spine, muscles, and bones), they can control their minds and bodies to reach their goals. Gaining control over one’s health is joyous and priceless; this is what Sacks studies and teaches.

In 2022 Sacks became a certified hot yoga instructor and learned about the relationship between thoughts, intentions, energy, and health. Sacks also learned the critical role the spine plays in overall health. Spinal health is absolutely critical to health and fitness. In turn, excellent health breeds happiness.

In 2024 Sacks obtained numerous certifications from the International Sports Sciences Association. These educational programs enhanced her knowledge of how exercise and nutrition can be used to enhance overall health, increase self-esteem, and maximize happiness. Sacks is certified as follows:

  1. Certified Personal Trainer

  2. Certified Weight Management Specialist

  3. Certified Genetics-Based Program Designer (DNA testing)

  4. Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist

  5. Certified Nutrition Coach

Food As Natural Medicine

Sacks’s method relies on medical, scientific, and cognitive research along with the fundamental tenet that food is medicine, as Hippocrates believed. Her method is drug-free and 100% natural. Sacks relies on nutritional and metabolic research to offer basic fasting and food-intake recommendations for optimal client outcomes. For the vast majority of people who are healthy and not vitamin deficient, Sacks advocates a supplement-free approach to optimal health. Sacks aims to coach each client to achieve extraordinary self-awareness and to make high-conscious choices, leading to a more peaceful, happier, and healthier life. Sacks seeks to teach clients to become self-sufficient by creating sustainable individualized programs that empower the client to continue on his or her own without the need for ongoing services. Sacks combines nutrition analysis with DNA or other client data to recommend modifications to diet, exercise, and other client habits to optimize the client’s health. Resistance training, cardio, and yoga are recommended for most clients but the programs are very flexible as a result of Sacks’s extensive knowledge. The programs can be adjusted for those who cannot exercise or wish not to. Excellent nutrition and consistent metabolic switching can powerfully transform the human body even without exercise.

The Cognitive Component

As a law professor and legal scholar for over 20 years, Sacks researched how the mind operates and forms beliefs about oneself, others, and the world as part of her First Amendment research. Cognitive Learning Theory explains how our minds intake, organize, and process data that form our beliefs, judgments about others, overall worldview, and ultimately our life experiences. First Amendment jurisprudence relies on this research because speech protection arises from freedom of thought. Sacks continues civil rights advocacy. See https://www.lordadvocates.org/.

Sacks’s academic publications may be found on the Social Science Research Network: http://ssrn.com/author=507918. Sacks was one of the professor-authors of the groundbreaking book concerning unconscious racial bias that results in unfair judgments and actions toward others. The book is Implicit Racial Bias Across the Law, published by Cambridge University Press in 2012. Sacks spent years learning how the brain processes mass media and other information to understand the impact of repeated messages on our minds, belief systems, and life experiences.

This research is equally important to understanding why people do not reach their health and life goals. Self-talk, unconscious feelings about ourselves and the world (manifested by statements), and even choices in entertainment (violence, for example) contribute critically to cognitive health and life experiences. Sacks is uniquely qualified to offer coaching and training services based on her many years of cognitive research combined with multiple certifications in nutrition and fitness.
